Long Meme for Jane Somebody
mesmall
na_lon
Since kargicq mentioned something about this meme and Jane's request for responses, I had another look and discovered that she requested response from me, too. So here goes.

1: Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4. Write down what it says:

"well. In practice, in German judicial procedure there is a rule of thumb that at least three"

2: Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?

The jewelcase for a CD-ROM with my files from my previous place of employment.

3: What is the last thing you watched on TV?

Live, a bit of one of those interminable '100 best'-programmes. On DVD, 'A Bug's Life' with the Marquis.

4: WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what time it is:

09.53

5: Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?:

09.50 - pretty good going, there. ;-)

6: With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?:

Nothing.

7: When did you last step outside? What were you doing?

This morning when I walked to the office.

8: Before you came to this website, what did you look at?

A page about a workshop in Newcastle I am going to next week.

9: What are you wearing?

Brown moleskin trousers, green brown laced up ankle boots, a white cardigan over a wildly stripey longsleeved t-shirt.

10: Did you dream last night?

Yes, a strange CSI dream in which H and Brass were working together. (Which they shouldn't be, because one is a Miami character and the other a Vegas one...)

11: When did you last laugh?

Last night watching Bug's Life.

12: What is on the walls of the room you are in?:

Several noticeboards with work type stuff, Nix's Winnie-the-Pooh, a white-board...

13: Seen anything weird lately?:

In what context?

14. What do you think of this quiz?

's okay.

15: What is the last film you saw?:

At the cinema, The Incredibles.

16: If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy first?:

This makes the assumption that the only thing to do with money is to buy something. Hm... maybe I'd buy a bicycle for a midwife in Africa.

17: Tell me something about you that I don't know.

I have no idea what I have told who of you... So let's try this: when I first went to University my idea of ultimate luxury was to buy a packet of biscuits and eat as many in one go as I liked, as opposed to having to share the packet between six people.

18: If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?:

I think I'd like to find a way of giving people empathy, patience and of making them take responsibility for their own action and for the planet.

19: Do you like to dance?

Yes. But I am not very good at it.

20: George Bush: is he a power-crazy nutcase or some one who is finally doing something that has needed to be done for years?

Hm. I'll leave this one unanswered. I have an opinion, but don't think it ought to go here.

21a: Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?

I don't know yet. How can you know what somebody's name is until you have met them? I'll probably think of a few names I like in advance... and then wait and see.

21b: Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?

See above.

22: Would you ever consider living abroad?

I have lived abroad since 1986. I would move somewhere else again, too.

*****

1. Total volume of music files on my computer?

No idea. My computer here has no speaker, my computer at home is not here for me to check.

2. The last CD I bought?

I don't recall. I think it was an Ultravox one for the Marquis.

3.a) Wake Up

Alarm-clock

3.b) Song playing right now?

None. See above re no speakers.

4. Five songs I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me:

At the moment... Affirmation by Savage Garden cos it's bouncy. Beastie by Jethro Tull cos it's appropriate to some of my current annoyances. Faure's Pavane cos it's haunting and beautiful. Dune theme cos it's haunting. That's it at the moment. I don't listen to music much currently.

5. Which five people are you passing this baton to and why?

I am not going to pass it on as such. Most people on my flist may well have done this already. Also the last few times I have passed something on, nobody has replied. This always disappoints me more than it should, and recently I have been feeling particularly easily rejected. So I won't pass the baton as such, but if someone wishes to pick it up, I'd consider that a bonus.

I think you're the first person I've seen doing this meme who guessed a time *ahead* of what the time actually was, as well as very close. Maybe it's that German efficiency thing coming out!

Faure's Pavane - is that the one called 'Pavane pour une Infante Defunte' (probably spelled wrong?) 'cos if so, that's one I love too. (When I did this I was being strict on the definition of song, or there'd be different answers!)
