Writing Meme
From gramarye1971 and pennypaperbrain

Ask me any one question about my writing, then post this in your LJ, so I can satisfy my curiosity about yours.

I know that most of you may not have seen much or indeed any of my writing... I'll make sure that some gets posted on the internet in due course. In the meantime, though, I felt obliged to stick with the meme instructions.

Here's my question: when you're doing a long project, like the Ta'Kiri story, does it evolve a lot over time, or do you stick with your original ideas as to what the whole thing will beceome?

I'd post this on my LJ for you to ask me stuff - but I'm not a writer!

Often I start out with little more than a particular image or scene in mind and a sense of where the story might be going. I then start trying to work towards it and let it grow for a while, until I get more of a feel for the plot -- which does indeed evolve -- and then I work out a 'skeleton plot'. I stick fairly closely to this and try not to write anything out of sequence. But even so, evolution occurs throughout. Sometimes big stuff, sometimes little stuff.

So I guess I do a bit of both, try to stick with the idea, but let the details evolve...

That's quite interesting. That's very much the way I right. It starts with a feeling or an image or a fragment of a scene. It might be the very first scene. But sometimes it is the end and everything then works back from that point

I'm confused about the various stuff you've aluded to - what's the B5 and what's the origfic?

Basically, I haven't yet posted up the B5 game fics. Ta'Kiri's story is the origfic.

To make matters confusing the characters in my origific share the names of some of the characters in the B5 ficlets (which I am still converting into html... very slowly).

So I apologise for causing brainache. Does this answer your question?

Just about! It makes more sense if the names overlap, my attempts to sort them into two groups wasn't working.
