Quote for the day
"Literature is mostly about sex and not much about having children. Life is the other way round." (David Lodge)

Not if I can help it ;)

David Lodge should read something other than his own books. ;)

I wonder how long he spent trying to come up with a quote so he could look cool to his (imaginary) friends? Based on my (scant) knowledge of this person ---- 2 months?

I actually liked the quote, because I thought it was quite funny. I admittedly thought that it's quite good to apply metaphorically rather than literally, but hey.

The thought that crossed my mind when I read it was related to the way that life never is quite how we'd like to thinkg it was based on fiction.

David Lodge is a Catholic and married in the early sixties when the majority of practising Catholics routinely tried to adhere to the Church's teachings on birth control. It was a serious issue for him. One of his earliest novels, 'The British Museum is Falling Down', is a comic treatment of the trials of a young Catholic couple trying not to have any more.

I took the quote from my quotes calendar -- on the back of each quote there is printed a short explanation of the quote. If I remember correctly the quote was definitely something to do with Catholics... :-)
