Minor spending spree
My mobile phone 'new' as of Christmas did it's usual 'fully charged, no wait, make that emergency only' thing one time too many today. So I charged out at lunchtime and bought a new phone. It is fairly basic and pink and it cost 35 quid including a £10 pay as you go card. It had better work. I'll probably give the old phone to a friend who's got a battery that should work with it.

The rest of the spending spree was to sponsor a couple of friends for the Race for Life and another one from the 3 peaks challenge in August. I am not doing Race for Life this year. The thought of trying to get sponsorship again made me feel too stressed. But I do want to get back into running.

I seem to recollect a paper arguing that batteries were known in ancient Greece ... but they still are not reliable!

Pink is good! Charitable giving is also good. Knowing that you are lifting the stress of sponsorship-raising for your friends is very good!

I think the whole battery business has definitely been around for a very long time. Maybe we have all become so used to them just being that way, that inventors haven't even considered trying to come up with a better solution?

As for good things, they were definitely good. :-)
