A while ago, when I visited Polly, we watched my DVD of NGE - Death and Rebirth. It was very confusing, beautifully animated and to my mind rather intriguing. So I asked for some Evangelion for my birthday, and the Marquis provided the first two volumes.

I like. It makes more sense than Death and Rebirth (although that does include most of the important bits of what I have seen so far!) and the characters still intrigue me. I also like the animation style. Sometimes, one image will be held for quite a while with the only 'action' in the voice over. It makes for interesting pace variation. Another thing that I have been enjoying is the way in which the story is told in certain places - not sequentially, but in flashbacks or sometimes including repetitions to make a point.

Hm... exciting stuff. The Marquis and I ordered the next couple of DVDs tonight. Hope they get here in a few days...

Evangelion is brilliant! ^_^

*Nods.* I think I am pretty much obsessed already.

I've had this lurking low down on my selection list for my online DVD rental service for a while, since I went mad one day and just added pretty much every interesting-looking anime series I came across, even if I knew nothing about them. I think I'll bump it up to "high priority" now, and watch it as soon as I can.

Oh, yes, definitely give it a go. I hope you enjoy it! Do you have any other anime to recommend?

I love Cowboy Bebop. It's funny, stylish, exciting, and with a good solid core of characterisation and character development.

As for other anime, I'm still a total newbie, floundering in a often-bemused fashion in the shallows of an enormous genre. I'm always open to recommendations myself!
